Paint Mask Stencil - Use for long term durable signage and graphics

Are you looking for a really long-term, durable option for your signage? One that is as durable as paint?

Easy, let us make a paint mask for you.

HOW DOES A PAINT MASK WORK?

A paint mask is an inverse of a normal sign, cut out of a special paint mask material that is quite easy to apply.

We run this mask material through our cutting machine, which cuts your specific artwork out beautifully and accurately.

This mask is then taken out, and the actual artwork is pulled out. Yes, that is right, we pull it out! The mask around the outside of your artwork is left behind, as this now becomes your paint mask.

WANT US TO INSTALL, OR YOU WANT TO DO IT?

You can choose now if you want to install the paint mask, or if you want one of our professionals to install it for you. If you choose for us to install, just ask and we can arrange this. If you want to do it, here are some instructions below, and we are only a phone call away as well.

HOW TO USE A PAINT MASK

How do you apply this without it falling apart? That is easy, because what we do next to your mask is apply what is called "app tape", short for application tape over the top. This is a paper sheet with a rubber style adhesive which is meant to hold pieces of the mask in place.

STEP 1 - REMOVE THE BACKING PAPER AND APPLY

Now careful, before you jump in and pull off 10 meters of backing paper, you need to do this in stages. Best for the bigger ones especially to do this in around 200-400mm sections, keeping the mask tight and just held off the surface, and squeegee it on slowly working from the middle out to the edged.

STEP 2 - REMOVE THE TOP APP TAPE

This is the top layer of paper stuck over the paint mask. This is fairly easy to remove if you have squeegeed the mask on well in step 1. Pull it off at 180 degrees (laid flat against the surface and pull it the opposite way), not 90 degrees (at right angles to your surface) if you can avoid it, as this helps you not pull bits of the paint mask off. If parts do start to come off, don't panic, just push that section down, squeegee on, and then start pulling the app tape off again.

STEP 3 - PAINT, THEN REMOVE THE MASK

Now, you spray or roll your paint on, then remove the mask. When is the best time to do this depends on you. We have had good success at doing this before the paint has completely dried and is around 1/2 dry. This will depend on the paint type etc.
