Ocean Alexander 50ft Yacht Re-Wrap in 3M Satin Thundercloud

This 50ft Ocean Alexander underwent a complete exterior refresh at d’Albora Boatyard, The Spit, with the existing wrap removed and the topsides and transom re-wrapped in 3M 2080 Satin Thundercloud S271.
The new dark satin finish was paired with a Gloss White waterline stripe and a subtle 19mm silver highlight stripe, creating a clean, refined contrast across the hull.
A Fresh Look for This Ocean Alexander
The project started with the removal of the existing exterior wrap, preparing the Ocean Alexander for its new finish. The topsides and transom were the key areas of the re-wrap, setting the foundation for the new Satin Thundercloud exterior and contrasting stripe details.
With the yacht out of the water at d’Albora Boatyard, The Spit, the team had full access to the hull, providing the ideal working conditions for the next stage of the exterior re-wrap.
Preparing the Hull for a Complete Re-Wrap
With the existing wrap removed, the topsides and transom were prepared for the new finish, creating a clean surface ready for the application of 3M 2080 Satin Thundercloud S271.
Once the surface was prepared, the new 3M 2080 Satin Thundercloud S271 wrap began to take shape across the hull, transforming the appearance of the yacht while retaining the character of the original Ocean Alexander design.
A New Look Takes Shape
With the Satin Thundercloud wrap in place across the topsides and transom, the Ocean Alexander’s new exterior began to come together. The darker satin finish created the foundation for the next stage — adding the Gloss White waterline stripe and subtle 19mm silver highlight.
The Gloss White waterline stripe adds a crisp contrast against the Satin Thundercloud, while the 19mm silver highlight stripe introduces a subtle finishing detail. Together, these elements sharpen the hull profile without taking attention away from the satin finish.
